We have been owned by this wonderful breed for some time now. Our first Newfoundland came to live with us in 2000, little did we know what a life changing event this would be. We have only recently decided to breed from one of our much loved girls. This decision was not taken lightly. Our dogs are first and foremost pets and they all live in the house with us. They are also trained and worked in water rescue. Some of them are entered into The Newfoundland Club tests, but all of them go in the water on a regular basis throughout the summer months. After all it is what Newfies do best - well that is the idea anyway. I also judge newfoundland dogs in water and draught tests at Newfoundland events throughout the country.
We thought long and hard about breeding from these amazing dogs. We decided that first and formost we must breed for temperament - sound, solid and bold puppies. They must be capable of working as well as looking good in the show ring. Our puppies will all be raised in the house with our children and our other dogs. We also decided that our puppies must have the best start we can give them. So we took the decision that we will only breed from parents that are health checked clear to try to maintain sound dogs in the breed whether they go on to pet, working or show homes. Our final thought was to only ever breed to improve if possible on the dogs we already owned and hopefully to maintain the health and love this gentle giant brings to each and every person that is ever owned by one of our future puppies.
